The car was specified and owned by Porsche AG in Stuttgart from 2004 until 2006, before being purchased by a Swedish gentleman through Porsche Center Göteborg. Factory cars, or Werkswagen, often received particularly interesting specifications, and this example is no exception. Among its notable features are the Sport Chassis, Sport Seats and extensive aluminium-look interior detailing.
The colour itself is equally intriguing. GT Silver Metallic was not offered as a regular exterior colour on the 986 Boxster S, which was otherwise available in colours such as Arctic Silver. GT Silver was associated with the limited-edition 550 Spyder 50 Jahre Boxster. This raises a rather fascinating possibility: could this be the only 2004 Boxster S produced in GT Silver Metallic?
All correspondence between the factory and Porsche Center Göteborg has been carefully preserved in the exceptionally well-organised binder accompanying the car. The documentation includes every conceivable piece of historical material, including inspection records, insurance documents and correspondence, as well as the original Fahrzeugbrief, which clearly identifies Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG as the sole registered owner in Germany.
For the enthusiast and collector alike, it is difficult to imagine a more compelling history behind a 986 Boxster.
