Technology & Performance. The 991.1 GT3 is powered by a high-revving, naturally aspirated 3.8-liter six-cylinder boxer engine. It delivers 475 pk at 8,250 rpm and 440 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. The engine can rev up to as high as 9,000 rpm, making it a key component of this generation GT3’s distinctive character.
For the first time in a 911 GT3, this generation came standard with a 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung transmission developed specifically for the GT3. The short gear ratios and extremely fast shift times are fully tailored to the high-revving nature of the naturally aspirated engine. Its performance remains impressive even by today’s standards. From a standstill, the GT3 accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and to 200 km/h in approximately 11 seconds. The top speed is 315 km/h.
The 991.1 was also the first 911 GT3 to feature active rear-axle steering. At low speeds, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction to the front wheels for added agility, while at higher speeds they steer in the same direction for greater stability. Combined with PASM, PTV Plus, dynamic engine mounts, and the GT3-specific chassis tuning, this delivers the direct and precise handling for which this generation is renowned.
This car also features the front-axle lift system, which allows the front end to be raised when encountering speed bumps or steep driveways, for example. The Clubsport Package, with a roll cage and 6-point harness, stays true to the GT3’s original character as a sports car explicitly developed for both road and track use.
