BACKGROUND

The 996 Turbo is the car that brought Porsche’s turbocharged flagship into the modern era. At its heart sits the legendary water-cooled Mezger flat-six, a 3.6-litre twin-turbo unit derived directly from Porsche’s racing engines and shared in architecture with the GT1, GT2 and GT3. The Mezger engine is prized for its bulletproof reliability and its appetite for more power, which is exactly why tuners such as Manthey-Racing or RUF built their reputation on it. Combined with the 996 Turbo’s all-wheel-drive traction and 6-speed manual, it remains one of the most usable and rewarding everyday supercars Porsche has ever built.

ABOUT THIS CAR

Finished in understated Black (L741) over its striking and rarely-seen Nephrite Green leather (Porsche Exclusive), this 2001 996 Turbo has had a single owner from new and comes with its original purchase contract, fully stamped service booklet, owner’s literature, both keys and a thick history file. Early servicing was carried out by Porsche Zentrum Aachen and Koln, including major services, after which the car passed to respected brand specialists. In 2026, the gearbox was removed and rebuilt with a new Sachs clutch. The car was serviced ahead of sale, with all fluids replaced and a brand new set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires fitted. It’s ready to drive and enjoy.

The defining feature of this car is its conversion to GT2 spec by Manthey Racing in the first year of its life (2002). It is therefore fitted with a Manthey-Racing MR996 “K480” kit, fully homologated by the German TUV. The kit comprises upgraded twin GT2 K24 turbochargers, revised ECU mapping and air filter, a Manthey sports exhaust (996MR-01) and an uprated GT2 clutch. A Manthey dyno sheet from 2002 records 484.8 PS (356.5 kW) and 650 Nm, a substantial and beautifully documented step over standard. This is good for a sub-4s sprint to 100kmh/60mph, faster than a stock GT2 while sitting on green leather… What else can you ask for?
