X51

Option code X51 refers to a factory engine kit that increased the power and performance of the flat-six. This pack included

-More aggressive camshafts

-Modified intake manifolds

-Reworked cylinder heads

-Sports exhaust

-Reprogramming of the engine control unit

Result

-Power increased to around 300hp from the original 285hp

-Sharper engine response

-Sportier handling without upgrading to a Turbo

Back in the day, this was an extremely expensive option at the time and therefore very rare, especially on the Carrera 4S.

Very few examples of the 993 C4S were fitted with the X51 pack (estimates: just a few dozen).

Perfect balance with the look of the Turbo without the brutality of the turbo, with a sharp engine.

Today, it’s a highly sought-after item among Porsche collectors.

The 993 is the last generation before the switch to water cooling with the 996.
