The vehicle in detail

A sports car for a trip to Lake Garda, with room for luggage and a design that leaves a lasting impression. That’s exactly how Carpoint founder Andreas Freund used one of the rare Artz conversions in the 1980s. His enthusiasm for this unusual sports car has stayed with him for decades. With the GT-K44, we’ve teamed up with designer Michael Söhngen to bring our own vision of a classic shooting brake to life.

Bodywork Down to the Last Detail

For the GT-K44, we extensively modify the roof and rear structure of the base vehicle provided to us. A new sheet-metal roof structure and large rear side windows create the characteristic silhouette. To achieve this, the B-pillars and rear side panels are also adapted.
The tailgate, also made of sheet metal, extends down to the bumper and about 40 centimeters into the roof surface. When opened, this makes the cargo area accessible from above as well. The fold-down rear seat bench is retained, allowing for flexible use of the interior.

Even the taillights are adapted for the new tailgate. The inner reflectors are housed in separate units within the tailgate, while the active lighting functions remain on the body. A third brake light in the roof spoiler, a modern roof antenna, and a rear wiper complete the conversion.

Our Reference Vehicle

The vehicle shown features a three-liter four-cylinder engine with 211 PS. Its Oak Green paint finish and seats in the Pascha pattern already match the initial design concept. A new headliner and customized interior trim complete the new roof and rear section.

Your GT-K44 is built according to your specifications
We plan to produce a limited series of ten vehicles. You provide the base vehicle; together, we’ll discuss its suitability, the desired configuration, and the scope of the work. Various engine options are available. We can also customize the interior, wheels, and suspension according to your preferences.
The conversion costs alone start at 100,000 euros plus VAT. This includes bodywork, painting of the modified areas, modification of the lights and interior trim, the new headliner, as well as the necessary approvals and registrations. The base vehicle, any necessary restoration, and additional customizations are calculated separately. The construction time depends on the agreed-upon scope of the project.

Carpoint has been restoring classic sports cars since the 1980s and today manufactures around 2,000 different replacement parts. Among our previous custom builds is an Austin-Healey 3000 Mk II with a station wagon-style rear.
