1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 4
VIN: WP0ZZZ96ZKS401120
Finished in Slate Gray Metallic over gray leather, with an unusually interesting early history. Produced on 06/09/1989 for the German market, the car’s factory-data record includes Z-Antrag 01991 identifying it as a “Presse-testwagen,” or press test vehicle. The same entry states that the scope of the special request was to include the engine and transmission, though the surviving documentation does not specify what additional preparation was ultimately performed.
The car was produced on 06/09/1989, invoiced on 06/12/1989, and its warranty began on 06/16/1989. The original service book records delivery through Porsche Zentrum Limburg on 01/15/1990, leaving an approximately seven-month period between production and retail delivery that aligns with its press-test designation.
Originally specified in Slate Gray Metallic, referenced in period documentation as 22D/Q9, it features a gray leather interior and no sunroof. Factory equipment includes heated seats, air conditioning, rear wiper, and supple-leather front seat upholstery.
Its European history is supported by the original stamped service book and extensive invoices. Early maintenance was carried out through Porsche Zentrum Limburg before the car later moved to Italy, with service documented through Porsche facilities in Alessandria and Padova, followed by continued specialist maintenance in France.
Recent work from 2022 through 2024 included suspension and chassis refurbishment, steering and brake components, wheel bearings, alignment, oil-leak repairs, seals and gaskets, ignition components, distributor and rotor, spark plugs, filters, belts, and other age-related hardware. A major specialist service in 11/2024 totaled approximately €13,465, followed by further ABS diagnosis in 12/2024.
The car currently shows approximately 108,847 miles and is accompanied by its original maintenance book, extensive European service records, and supporting documentation. Its Presse-Testwagen designation makes it a particularly interesting example from the early years of the 964 generation.
