The vehicle in detail

In conjunction with the model year 1960, 356 A was replaced by the completely redesigned 356 B (T5). Its power spectrum ranged from 60 hp in 356 B 1600 to 140 hp in 356 B 2000 GS-GT Carrera 2.

The main visual differences between the B-series and the previous model included the front bumper with enlarged rim guards that were placed about ten centimeters higher, and the headlights that were also much higher placed. The signal horns grille next to the longer protruding front blinkers were flatter and had two prechromed slats. The handle in the hood was also wider at the bottom. The two license plate lighting lights were integrated into the higher placed rear bumper, while the reversing light was mounted under the bumper.

For model year 1962 (T6), 356 B got a hood that had been significantly widened at the bottom and a tank cap in the screen right front. Two vertical ventilation grilles were integrated into the enlarged bonnet.
