This Porsche 964 Safari combines classic air-cooled 911 DNA with an exceptionally high-quality and fully road-legal Safari conversion. The vehicle in detail

The Porsche 911 is usually associated with winding back roads and precise handling on asphalt – but this 964 Safari deliberately follows a very different philosophy. Inspired by Porsche’s legendary rally and off-road heritage, this exceptionally well-executed Safari build combines classic 911 DNA with genuine adventure capability. The project is based on a 1989 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 and has been continuously developed, tested and refined since 2019.
Visually, the car takes inspiration from the rare 911 SCRS rally cars and features an extremely high-quality body conversion: all widened body sections and modifications were fabricated in steel using original Porsche parts. This is not a simple show car build, but a fully functional and purpose-developed Safari 911. Extensive testing in the Norwegian mountains as well as the Alps led to continuous improvements of the suspension setup, underbody protection, roof rack system and lighting over several years.
Technically, the car is powered by a torque-optimized 3.8-liter air-cooled flat-six engine paired with a specially built RUF 6-speed gearbox featuring locking differentials. A custom-designed Safari/rally suspension setup with modified wheel suspension provides excellent stability and impressive drivability both on rough roads and loose surfaces.

Special equipment includes an electric front winch hidden behind the front plate, PCCM+ navigation system with Apple CarPlay, Webasto auxiliary heater, Recaro leather seats, half roll cage, Stilo intercom, Cargraphic sports exhaust system, custom roof rack with spare wheel and a bespoke auxiliary light pod mounted on the bonnet. All modifications are officially registered and road legal.

The car has already been featured in several international Porsche magazines and media publications and is widely regarded as one of the most sophisticated and thoroughly developed Safari builds based on the 964 platform. Overall, this vehicle offers a unique combination of classic air-cooled 911 character, high-quality engineering and true long-distance adventure capability – ready for journeys far beyond ordinary roads.
