The vehicle in detail

Following its Can-Am dominance in 1972 and 1973, Porsche brought turbocharging to the road-going Type 930, which was introduced for 1975. Enlarged to 3.3 liters for 1978 and fitted with an intercooler, the updated 930 featured a revised “tea tray” rear spoiler accommodating the intercooler.

Delivered new to Continental Porsche-Audi in Portland, Oregon, this 1979 Porsche 930 was specified in paint-to-sample Hellgelb (Light Yellow) over black leather. Factory options included sport seats, limited-slip differential, electric sunroof, right-side mirror, and black headliner. Reported to have spent much of its life in private collections, this 930 showed approximately 18,500 miles when catalogued. In May 2015, specialist Carrera Car Shop of Huntington, New York, performed an $18,000 engine-out service that included a new clutch and resurfaced flywheel, as well as new seals, lines, ignition components, belts, and filters.

Acquired by the current owner in 2021, the car was subsequently serviced by Wayland Motorsports of Santa Rosa, California, and fitted with new Pirelli P7 Cinturato tires. Based on its appearance and paint meter readings, the consignor believes the paint and interior to be original to the car. Accompanied by its manuals, a copy of its original window sticker, Porsche COA, and tool kit, this striking paint-tosample 930 is a compelling example of Porsche’s iconic turbocharged flagship.
