The vehicle in detail

Not much is known of the early history of this 914 other than it had sat in a garage here in the Northwest for 20 years and was acquired by a previous owner who then performed a comprehensive refurbishment in 2023 including: Removing the engine and gearbox and refreshing them, refinishing the body in original Forest Green, adding sound deadening mat to the floors and engine bulkhead, fitting new interior (the upper dash, door panels are leather with basket weave trim to the dash face and door inserts), new shocks, new brakes, lowering the suspension, installing a performance-quad tip dual exhaust system, renewing the fuel system, installing LED lighting, tuning the engine, and more. New weather stripping was fitted throughout as well. The floors were very sound with no rust and the “hell hole” battery area was in good shape. Minimal work to the sills were required as the car was structurally solid. Some nice additions that really set this 914 apart for the rest are: black leather Momo Prototipo steering wheel w/ Porsche horn button, 917 style layered wood shift knob, black/white cocomats as well as aluminum Rennline floor liners, Marshall Bluetooth speaker that will sync to your phone, all interior gauges have been upgraded to glass lenses w/LED backlighting w/ chrome bezel rings, Polished Fuchs wheels with new 195/65/15 tires (2023 date codes), H4 type modern headlamps, Hella fog lamps, black PORSCHE negative side decals, aluminum/black Porsche crest emblem on the front(adhesive mounted) and black emblems on the rear, green seatbelts, and drilled aluminum foot pedals and window handles. The entire car has been wrapped in PPF to protect its finish. Recently the car has had a new Bosch battery installed, fresh oil change, new fuel injectors, new Bosch distributor cap, rotor, points, with new NGK spark plugs and wire set, and a new Continental drive belt was also installed.

Driving this 914 is a pure thrill for all your senses, the ultimate analog go-kart! The engine starts right up, accelerates quickly with a great exhaust note, the gearbox shifts easily up/down in all gears, the brakes and clutch feel very strong, all electrical is working correctly, no rattles or weird noises. Toss it into a corner and you will be grinning ear to ear with how well it can stick to the road. The car will generate tons of looks, thumbs up, and be prepared to be a favorite at any cars & coffee gathering.

Included with this 914 are a fitted outdoor car cover, owner’s manual, shop manual, 1 key w/green leather fob, 3 sets of floor mats: carpet-coco-aluminum, tools, jack, spare wheel/tire in trunk, and the removable targa top. This is one 914 that is completely “dialed in” and ready to hit the show circuit or take it for a nice rip through your favorite back roads.

The 914, a collaboration effort from parent company Volkswagen, was Porsche’s new entry level sports car for the 1970’s, it was mid engined, had a removable targa roof with integral roll hoop, and two trunks. The car was very popular with the club sport weekend racers /autocrossers due to the small size, go-kart like handling, excellent road manners, and lightweight body. As all air-cooled Porsche values continue to climb, the 914 remains a great way to enter the P-car family while not breaking the bank. Parts and servicing are relatively inexpensive and the handling will have you grinning ear to ear.
