Some cars are restored.
Others are built with the aim of bringing out the best in their original design—without altering their character.
This Porsche 944 Turbo S M758 undoubtedly falls into the second category.
Delivered to Luxembourg in 1988 and thus in the coveted ROW specification, this vehicle is one of the early 944 Turbo S models with the option code M758—the specification from which the Porsche Turbo Cup emerged and which marks the pinnacle of transaxle development.
Even in its original delivery condition, this 944 Turbo S was exceptional. The rare combination of Silver Rose Metallic and the equally rare wine-red multicolor interior gives it a distinctive presence that stands out pleasantly from the usual color combinations.
A few years ago, the decision was made not simply to restore the car, but to bring it up to a technical standard that does justice to the aspirations of this special model. The goal was explicitly not to create an uncompromising race car or a flashy tuning project. Rather, the aim was to create a Porsche that drives the way one might have wished a factory-built Clubsport version of the 944 Turbo S would.
At the heart of this concept is the completely rebuilt engine. The rebuild was carried out by ETG Eichner Technik GmbH, one of the most renowned specialists for Porsche turbo engines in Germany. The design is based on the specifications of the Porsche 944 Cup cars and combines an output of over 300 PS with high reliability and excellent drivability. Since the rebuild, the car has covered only about 11,000 kilometers.
The suspension has been equally thoroughly revised. A KW V3 coilover suspension ensures precise and balanced handling without compromising the car’s classic character. The setup is complemented by Recaro sports seats and a roll bar from 11er-ARTS.
However, special emphasis was placed on preserving the vehicle’s originality. The entire interior was refurbished using original Porsche fabrics. The Recaro seats were also upholstered with the original materials, allowing them to blend harmoniously with the factory-original appearance. The vehicle does not look like a modified classic, but rather like a consistent evolution of an extraordinary Porsche.
Over the past three years, approximately 50,000 euros have been invested in the technical systems, suspension, and detailed work. All work performed during the restoration, as well as all maintenance since completion, is fully documented. In addition, there is a comprehensive collection of invoices from previous years.
The vehicle’s total mileage is approximately 300,000 kilometers. However, what matters most is its current technical condition: the engine, suspension, and numerous other components have been overhauled at considerable expense. The bodywork is in excellent condition. The front and rear have been professionally repainted, while the remaining body panels still feature the original paint.
This vehicle is not intended for buyers who are simply looking for a Porsche 944 Turbo.
It is intended for people who understand the significance of the M758, who recognize the name ETG Eichner, and who realize that originality and technical perfection need not be mutually exclusive.
An exceptional Porsche for enthusiasts who want to experience the transaxle concept in what is perhaps its most exciting form.
