The license plate BB-PW 184 from that time is typical of vehicles used in Weissach as development, test, or homologation vehicles. For 1992, such an initial delivery via Weissach was extremely unusual—a clear indication of internal use by the Porsche department in Weissach.
Engine with an “S” stamp – selected, machined, special
There is a factory-applied “S” stamp on the engine block. Experience shows that this stands for:
- Special machining at the factory (e.g., reworking, re-honing, fit optimization)
- Selected components with particularly tight tolerances
- Engines for internal use, motorsports, or testing
- Reinforced or modified housings, as are known from RS and motorsport applications
The measured power curve with 271 hp corresponds to engines that were equipped with sharper camshafts or homologation specifications at the factory.
Condition
The 964 is in exceptionally well-maintained condition, both technically and visually. There is no backlog of repairs—just get in, start it up, and simply enjoy the next few years.
