The resulting first GT3 Touring has already become a classic thanks to its uncompromising yet practical characteristics, and it continues to inspire in every respect to this day. The engine, derived from the GT3 Cup and featuring mechanical valve trains, produces sounds that have been missing from modern 911s since the mid-1990s. Never has a GT engine been more emotional, never has it been more powerful. The 7-speed manual transmission, developed specifically for the Touring, strikes the perfect balance between classic and modern. Short, mechanical shift travel combined with automatic double-clutching and upshift assist allow the experienced driver to tame the 500 horses with just one hand.
Like the conventional GT3, the Touring features a rear axle that steers, making it extremely agile. Sure, the winged GT3 with PDK may squeeze out those very last tenths of a second on the track compared to the Touring, but when it comes to driving emotion, the Touring is certainly always a step ahead.
This is a 991 GT3 Touring manufactured in May 2018, part of the final production run of this special edition model, which was built only until early 2019—a production run of less than two years. Painted in GT Silver, this example—with under 1,000 km on the odometer, delivered in Germany, and coming from a first owner—is in pristine, nearly new condition. Configured by a purist, petrolhead, and friend of Motorlegenden, it was built according to the parameters of minimizing weight as much as possible and focusing on the essentials: emotion and sportiness.
In an era of long waiting lists for Porsche GT models, strictly limited production capacity for vehicles in special colors, and insanely complicated decision-making processes regarding the feasibility of certain equipment features, everything that negatively impacts weight—and thus performance—was consistently omitted. This reduction to the essentials resulted in a one-of-a-kind vehicle. True to the motto: Less is more. Less weight and fewer extras equal more performance and fewer technical vulnerabilities.
The exterior color—GT Silver—is certainly a perfect match for this GT3 Touring’s philosophy. In keeping with its aesthetic appeal, this model features wheels that are simple and elegant, finished in the same shade.
A distinctive feature of all GT3 Touring models is the center-lock wheels and the specially developed exhaust system—which does not yet include an OPF. This circumstance meant that all GT3 Touring models had to be registered by September 2019, resulting in a natural limitation on the production of this model.
A certain preference for premium materials was evident: The entire interior was upholstered in smooth leather and Alcantara, including the lid of the center console storage compartment. The interior was finished with an optional package that included black leather door panels and a black leather dashboard.
Here, one-of-a-kind craftsmanship meets individuality in one of the rarest and most coveted Porsche models of recent times. Hardly any other model in the history of the 911 has sparked such emotion and enthusiasm in recent years. Especially in an era of downsizing and new gasoline particulate filters, the 991 GT3 Touring is arguably one of the last remaining naturally aspirated models with the old-school virtues and will therefore remain one of the most sought-after 911 models in the future. This vehicle is a German-spec car, first-hand, with just 975 km on the odometer. Unfortunately, due to the size of his collection, the original buyer and first owner was unable to drive the car as it was intended.
