The vehicle in detail

Chassis No. WP0AF2A95BS785585
GT3 RS 4.0 No. 184/600

At the time of the 911 GT3 RS 4.0’s debut, allocations, waiting lists, and deposits weren’t yet the norm. Even though the RS 4.0 was the ultimate 997-generation 911, a limited-edition swan song based on the already-celebrated RS 3.8, in 2011 buyers could place an order—at MSRP! Porsche’s engineers enhanced the RS 4.0 with lightweight carbon panels, a wider body, increased downforce, and bespoke suspension geometry with monoball components, delivering a driving experience unmatched by the GT3 RS 3.8 or any other Rennsport 911.

The GT3 RS 4.0 also marked the final chapter for the legendary flat-six Metzger engine, a rear-mounted masterpiece that powered every 911 since 1964 and dominated racing—from Le Mans to Paris-Dakar. Andreas Preuninger, Porsche’s head of GT cars, emphasized the RS 4.0 was “built around the engine.” Key upgrades included a crankshaft borrowed from the 911 GT3 RSR and forged pistons with titanium connecting rods. At four liters, it was the largest 911 engine ever, producing 500 horsepower at 8,250 rpm—125 hp per liter—from a naturally aspirated unit, all routed through a six-speed manual transmission, making it the last Rennsport 911 fitted with a manual.

Only 600 serialized GT3 RS 4.0s were produced for the entire global market, yet these special rarities were designed to be driven. Porsche’s marketing showcased stripped-down examples racing around the world, touting a remarkable Nürburgring lap time of 7:27. As a result, over the past 15 years, many have been enjoyed as intended, but there are those, such as GT3 RS 4.0 number 184 that have been carefully preserved, retaining their low mileage and exceptional originality, making them among the most desirable and collectible examples of the model today.

Finished in July 2011 and first delivered via Hennessy Porsche of Atlanta, Georgia, the original window sticker for RS 4.0 number 184 reveals it was selected in the official Communication Color of Carrara White with RS 4.0 logos and its center-lock wheels painted in Black. The interior was trimmed in the classic Black/Red leather and Alcantara combination so familiar to the devotees of the model. Optional extras included Front Axle Lifting System, Sound Package Plus, and Sport Chrono Package without PCM.

The accompanying clean CARFAX Vehicle History report records a sale to its first owner based in Georgia in August 2011. A second Georgia owner acquired the car in 2013 with 2,423 miles and held the car until 2018. Few miles were added in that span, and under the most recent owner who acquired it in 2025, the rare RS has seen servicing at Porsche Atlanta Perimeter and most recently an extensive service at Porsche North Houston in March 2026.

Opportunities to acquire a low-mileage, well-specified GT3 RS 4.0 are rare. One of Porsche’s finest Metzger-engine creations, it combines engineering brilliance with historic significance to deliver pure driver engagement. The 911 GT3 RS 4.0 stands among the definitive Rennsport 911s—a car for collectors, enthusiasts, and anyone who understands what makes a 911 truly extraordinary.
