The vehicle in detail

The 997.2-generation GT3 RS was already the darling of the automotive press. But before the model and its enduring “Mezger” engine bowed out to be replaced by the type 991, Porsche increased capacity of the famed flat-six motor by 200 cc and installed the crankshaft from its RSR race car to create the exquisite 4.0.
For good measure, the car shed a further 10 kilograms compared to the already-focused GT3 RS, thanks to the use of new carbon fibre front wings, lighter interior trim, and titanium connecting rods. In a package delivering 493 brake horsepower via an engaging six-speed manual gearbox, it is little wonder why this last hurrah remains for many the peak of the legendary 911.
Numbered “254” from a limited production run of 600 examples, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 offered here was built in left-hand-drive form for the German market and was purchased new by its first Swiss owner in October 2011 and registered in Switzerland on 26th of that month. This example was delivered with Carrara White paintwork, complemented by contrasting GT Silver racing stripes, over a Black and Red leather and Alcantara interior. Specification highlights include optional cruise control, six-point safety harnesses, the Sport Chrono package, and the added convenience of cupholders. It was originally fitted with a rear roll cage, while a full cage was later installed before the car was returned to its factory setup.
The first owner retained possession for two years before the 911 was sold via Porsche Centre Geneva, Switzerland, where it returned for a service in October 2013. Under the care of the second keeper the GT3 RS 4.0 was imported to the United Kingdom in April 2017, and the following month was registered for use on the road. Following a major service in June, conducted by Porsche Centre Reading, the car was purchased by a new owner. At the time of this service, Porsche Centre Reading carried out a paint meter check, where in a document on file they note the paint thickness and originality of the body panels.
One minor and one major service were undertaken by Porsche Centre Swindon, prior to the vendor acquiring the car in August 2020 via Dick Lovett. At this time, the odometer was noted as showing 6,100 miles. Porche Centre Swindon carried out a 111-point check and extended the factory warranty until January 2026. Following the current owner’s purchase, this GT3 RS 4.0 was professionally detailed and had PPF applied to the front of the car. It was then over to Porsche Centre Cambridge to carry out a minor (September 2022) and major (September 2024) service, with the latter also including the fitment of new spark plugs and replacement of the transmission oil and drive belt. All four tyre pressure monitor sensors were replaced by JZM Porsche of Hertfordshire in January 2026 alongside a full inspection being carried out. Most recently, a new coolant temperature sensor was installed by Porsche Centre Silverstone, alongside a minor oil leak being fixed under warranty in April 2026.
Offered with its owner’s guides in their leather folio, and a host of invoices, the Porsche displays on its odometer—which has been calibrated to read in imperial—6,530 miles (approximately 10,507 kilometres) at the time of cataloguing. Upon inspection, the car has been found to retain its matching-numbers engine. One of the all-time great versions of one of the best-ever road-going sports cars, the supremely desirable 997-generation swansong that is the GT3 RS 4.0 would make a superlative addition to any performance-themed collection.
