Porsche Carrera GT

Roadster, 2006

Highlights

  • First owner
  • First paint
  • Great maintenance history

The Porsche Carrera GT is undoubtedly one of the most exceptional sports cars ever built by Porsche—a vehicle in which engineering, exclusivity, and the driving experience converge in a unique way. This specific example, bearing production number 440, was originally delivered in Belgium and comes from its first owner; it is a “matching numbers” Carrera GT—a remarkable combination for a car of this caliber.

What makes this particular Carrera GT even more compelling is the comprehensive maintenance service recently performed at Porsche Centre Paris Vélizy. In May 2026, with the odometer reading just 7,242 kilometers, the car underwent maintenance and technical work totaling €71,851.88.

The vehicle in detail

During this service, the entire drivetrain—comprising the engine and transmission—was removed to facilitate extensive work. This included replacing all four camshafts and all sixteen valve lifters, checking valve clearances, and renewing various seals, gaskets, and O-rings. Additionally, the alternator, starter motor, battery, thermostat, drive belts, and tensioners were replaced. The clutch was also removed, cleaned, and inspected.

The suspension system received equally thorough attention. All four shock absorbers were replaced, along with various associated components. Furthermore, a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires was installed, the tire pressure sensors were replaced, and the wheel alignment was checked and adjusted. Naturally, all oils, filters, and fluids were also renewed. Additionally, the Porsche recall campaign APA3 was carried out. This extensive maintenance service is fully documented and serves as a valuable addition to the history of this Carrera GT. Combined with its Belgian provenance, single-owner history, matching numbers, and exceptionally low mileage, this is an example that certainly warrants the attention of any serious Porsche enthusiast or collector.

Additional information:

The absolute highlight of the Carrera GT is, without a doubt, its naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V10 engine—a powerplant that originated from a motorsport development project. Producing an impressive 612 hp and 590 Nm of torque, this ten-cylinder engine delivers performance that remains remarkable even by today’s standards. Positioned directly behind the occupants, the engine channels its power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. For this setup, Porsche developed a unique ceramic twin-plate clutch—the Porsche Ceramic Composite Clutch (PCCC)—measuring just 169 millimeters in diameter. This compact design allowed the drivetrain to be positioned exceptionally low within the vehicle, contributing to a low center of gravity.

The performance figures speak for themselves: the Carrera GT accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, reaching the 200 km/h mark in only 9.9 seconds, with a top speed of 330 km/h. Yet, it is not merely the statistics that make this Porsche so extraordinary. The character of the high-revving V10, the direct, tactile feedback of the manual transmission, and the minimal electronic intervention combine to create a driving experience that is rarely found in modern cars. The construction of the Carrera GT was also far ahead of its time. Porsche developed a monocoque chassis made entirely of carbon fiber, combined with an engine mounting structure also crafted from carbon fiber. The use of these lightweight materials ensures an exceptionally rigid foundation and a low vehicle weight. Furthermore, the Carrera GT comes standard with an advanced pushrod suspension system, in which the shock absorbers are positioned horizontally within the body. This design is derived directly from motorsport and contributes to precise handling.

The design is every bit as remarkable as the engineering. Its low-slung body, wide rear, distinctive air intakes, and centrally positioned dual exhaust make it immediately clear that this is no ordinary Porsche. Despite its overtly sporty character, the design retains a certain simplicity; every line serves a purpose, and superfluous details have been kept to an absolute minimum. Furthermore, the two-piece, removable carbon-fiber Targa roof allows for an open-air experience, letting the driver fully enjoy the V10 engine. The individual roof panels can be stowed away in the front luggage compartment.

Inside, the focus remains firmly on the driver. The high-mounted gear shifter, lightweight sports seats, and the use of carbon fiber, magnesium, and leather underscore the exceptional nature of this Porsche. The signature wooden gear knob pays homage to historic Porsche race cars and has since become a hallmark detail of the Carrera GT. Despite the emphasis on weight reduction and performance, great attention has also been paid to finish and comfort. The interior blends high-quality materials with a functional layout, where virtually every element is designed to foster a direct connection between the driver and the car.
The lightweight forged magnesium wheels—measuring 19 inches in diameter at the front and 20 inches at the rear—are another notable technical detail. Behind them sit the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system, specifically engineered to deliver outstanding braking performance even under heavy load. Additionally, the active rear spoiler, flat underbody, and aerodynamic diffuser provide the necessary stability at high speeds. All these features were part of the Carrera GT’s standard technical equipment.
