When Alois Ruf’s CTR Yellowbird crested 211 mph in 1987, it announced the small Pfaffenhausen manufacturer as king among those challengers competing for the title of the fastest car in the world. Two years later, Porsche introduced the 964-generation 911, a car “85 percent new” with coil-spring suspension and ABS, and RUF found in it an ideal foundation for its next act.
Launched in 1992, the RCT, for RUF Carrera Turbo, took the 964 platform and fitted a single-turbocharged, intercooled version of the 3.6-liter flat-six producing 370 horsepower, exceeding the output of Porsche’s own contemporary 911 Turbo. Power reached the road through RUF’s six-speed manual transmission and 18-inch RUF-Speedline wheels, while the brakes, suspension, and aerodynamics were all uprated to match. Road & Track was won over in December 1993, writing, “You [can] push the RCT like crazy, deep into a corner, and just as you’re expecting it to get light, the car plants its tires and takes a set like cement. Nothing is done softly, but in a machine this pure, there’s no reason in the world that it should be.”
In early 2020, RUF announced that its Modern Classic program would begin accepting orders for the new RCT EVO. In EVO specification, the turbocharged 3.6-liter flat six would produce 425 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 420 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm, figures sufficient for zero-to-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph. The program also encompassed a rebuild of the six-speed manual transmission, installation of RUF’s own limited-slip differential, suspension upgrades, four-piston aluminum monobloc calipers and cross-drilled, ventilated discs, along with fitment of an integrated roll cage system for added rigidity and safety. Alois Ruf has described the RCT EVO as “the most usable everyday model in the RUF range,” a car that pairs supercar performance with the composure and refinement of a well-sorted 911.
Chassis number 06001 offered here is a genuine W09-chassis RCT EVO, with its RUF Zertifikat, dated November 2025, recording an original production date of 1995. In January 2024, showing 45,606 miles, the Guards Red over black RCT was delivered to Pfaffenhausen for a comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic transformation culminating in the full RCT EVO upgrade. The resulting factory invoice, dated 5 December 2025 and totaling €88,594.18, documents the scope of the work in thorough detail. The engine was removed and treated to a complete revision to EVO specification, including an upgraded turbocharger and the disassembly and overhaul of the intercooler and heat exchangers, while supporting work encompassed replacement front wishbones, new brake discs, pads, lines, and control units, fresh ignition wires, new front seat belts, and renewed door seals. The interior was partly renewed, including the RECARO bucket seats, and the car received the 19-inch RUF five-spoke wheels it wears today, mounted with new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
Following its return from Germany, chassis 06001 received further attention in June 2026 when RM Engineering Solutions completed the fitment of a modern electric air conditioning system. At the same visit, the rear bumper was repainted, new front lights and rear taillights were installed, and the brake system was flushed with fresh fluid, with the invoice exceeding $10,000. Freshly emerged from Pfaffenhausen with its EVO engine, renewed interior, and modern climate control, chassis 06001 offers 425 turbocharged horsepower, a six-speed manual, and the analog, air-cooled character that has made the RCT one of the most beloved of all RUF models.
