1992 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 for sale!

As one of the oldest sports car models ever, with eight generations and countless variants and versions, there’s a 911 for everyone. Almost regardless of what you want to use it for. As many Porsche owners there are, there are also many individual and personal cars. A brilliant example of this is this beautiful 964 Carrera 2 in Amethyst Metallic. With the introduction of the so-called ‘transaxle’ cars. 924, 944 and 928, it was thought that production of the world’s most famous sports car would cease in the mid-1980s, but thanks to the strong support of its customers, Porsche launched the new 964 in 1989. The car was already a technological leader at launch, and the introductory Carrera 4 model featured all-wheel drive for the first time in the 911 segment, largely inherited from its big brother, the 959. Nevertheless, it was a difficult start for the new model, thanks to the financial crisis in 1990. To boost sales, the car was also offered that same year in the form of the Carrera 2 variant with drive only via the rear wheels.

This Carrera 2 saw the light of day in 1992 at the Zuffenhausen plant, with a manual transmission and without a sunroof, which was to be of great importance later on. The color combination could not better represent the 90s. Ametysth Metallic exterior and an equally purple interior. It’s a color combination that gives this 911 wonderful character. The exterior sits aggressively on the Speedline Split wheels thanks to the specially ordered Öhlins Road&Track suspension. The front is adorned by a very subtle “RS” lip and brake cooling intake in the bumper, as well as yellow headlights to emphasize the race car feel. The Speedline rims are tire with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, and the side windows are emblazoned with a sticker commemorating the adventures the car has been on.

But while the absolutely stunning exterior is unique and pretty special, the interior is not. Clicking on the handsome door handles opens up the black/purple interior, and even before you take a seat in the aggressive Recaro bucket seats, you can breathe in just how much love and thought went into this 964. The first thing you notice is the bucket seat upholstery, which is black/red/pink and orange, and just behind that is a half-cage from Heigo with a six-point harness from Schroth for the driver. Once in the driver’s seat, you have a Porsche-brand Momo steering wheel in suede in front of you, and behind that, the purple of the dashboard shines through. A color that is echoed in the ceiling and carpet set. The door sides are of the RS variety with a familiar loop to open them.

The entire interior exudes a combination of personality and focus on active driving that few cars can match.

Today, this car is as good and special as a 964 can get. Amethyst Metallic over purple interior. No sunroof, manual and with drive to rear wheels only. An extremely well documented car for those who venture outside the gray area.
