In 2002, the entire 996 generation received a facelift. The Carrera 4S Cabriolet was introduced in the lineup with the new engine and Turbo body. Many publications called the Carrera 4S the perfect point in the 911 lineup when it was introduced, offering more performance than the base model without the exorbitant pricing of a Turbo or GT2. The Carrera 4S combined the aggressive body and suspension from the Turbo with the base Carrera 4 drivetrain, although it didn’t receive the Turbo’s massive rear wing.
