Launched three years after the first 911 GT3 RS, the 997.1 RS uses the same approach as its predecessor—start with a GT3, make it more track-focused—but it takes things further. The bodywork and rear track are wider, it’s lighter thanks to more carbon-fiber and plastic in place of glass, and the suspension was revised. The contemporary GT3’s 3.6-liter 415-hp Mezger engine was retained too, and for the first time in a GT3 RS, adaptive dampers, a switchable sports exhaust, and traction control were fitted. The ultimate track weapon, easily adaptable to everyday street use.

This particular 997.1 GT3 RS was completed on November 15, 2007 and delivered new to its first owner through Jim Ellis Porsche of Atlanta shortly after in December. One of just 53 examples finished in exclusive RS Green and without GT3 RS graphics or stripes and a black full-leather cabin with accenting green trim, stitching, Alcantara and carbon fiber. Highly equipped from the factory, the Porsche notable options included PCCB, bi-xenon headlamps, Chrono Package Plus, Porsche Communication Management with Navigation, Interior Carbon package, and a host of other Exclusive Department enhancements listed below.

The RS was later acquired by its second caretaker, famed WhatsApp co-founder and Porsche Collector Jan Koum in California. Mr. Koum has built an amazing Porsche collection and is known to only buy the best examples available. An accompanying dossier of files contains service invoices from 2008-2018 – all performed by Porsche Certified dealerships. All new, correct Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires were installed February of 2018. In addition to regular service and meticulous upkeep, the DME reports zero over-revs in the car’s history.
