This exceptional May 1989 example is one of only 340 Club Sports ever produced worldwide and one of just 28 examples originally delivered to the United States. Finished in timeless Black (L700) over the original Linen pinstripe Club Sport interior, it retains its original matching-numbers engine and gearbox, benefits from a documented €21,000 engine rebuild carried out in Germany in 2020, produced 245 hp on the dyno after the rebuild and was recently inspected and serviced by Porsche Classic Gelderland.
An exceptional collector-quality example with outstanding provenance and complete documentation.
Some Porsche models are rare.
Others become milestones in Porsche history.
The Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Club Sport belongs firmly in the second category.
Long before the legendary 964 Carrera RS, the GT3 and the modern Rennsport models became household names, Porsche developed a lightweight driver’s car that returned to the original philosophy of the early 911.
The formula was remarkably simple.
Remove everything that is unnecessary.
Reduce weight.
Improve balance.
Increase driver involvement.
The result was the Carrera 3.2 Club Sport.
Today it is regarded by enthusiasts and collectors worldwide as the direct spiritual predecessor of every Porsche RS and GT model that followed.
Only 340 examples were produced worldwide, making the Club Sport one of the rarest naturally aspirated production 911s of the entire G-Series generation.
Carrera Sport Classics is delighted to offer this outstanding May 1989 example.
Originally delivered new in the United States, this car is one of only 28 US-market Club Sports ever built.
Finished in elegant Black (L700) over the original Linen pinstripe Club Sport interior, it perfectly captures the understated appearance that made the Club Sport such an icon. The characteristic Club Sport side stripes have recently been reapplied in the correct factory style, once again giving the car the purposeful appearance Porsche intended when these lightweight models left Stuttgart.
Originally sold in the United States, the car spent its early life in Massachusetts, Maine and Arizona before being imported into Austria in 2012. It is now Belgian registered and offered on behalf of a passionate Porsche enthusiast who has carefully assembled a collection of rare and historically important Porsche models.
The provenance of this Club Sport is exceptional.
The car is accompanied by its original stamped service booklet, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, extensive maintenance invoices, valuation reports, original toolkit and a clean US Carfax report. Its ownership and maintenance history can be followed throughout its life, providing complete confidence in its authenticity.
Mechanically, this Club Sport is equally impressive.
In 2020, the original matching-numbers engine underwent a comprehensive rebuild by a renowned Porsche specialist in Germany. The work is fully documented by invoice exceeding €21,000 and reflects a no-compromise approach to preserving the originality and mechanical integrity of the car.
Following the rebuild, the engine was professionally tested on a dynamometer where it produced an impressive 245 horsepower. While officially rated at 217 hp in US specification, Club Sport engines have always been renowned for producing significantly more power than their published figures thanks to Porsche’s factory blueprinting process. The dyno result confirms the exceptional health and efficiency of this original matching-numbers engine rather than any aftermarket modification.
Most recently, in March 2025, the car underwent a comprehensive inspection and maintenance service at Porsche Classic Gelderland, ensuring it is presented in outstanding mechanical condition and ready to be enjoyed immediately.
The M637 Club Sport package remains one of the purest expressions of Porsche engineering.
Instead of adding luxury or complexity, Porsche focused entirely on reducing weight and improving driving dynamics.
