This beautifully presented and well-preserved 964 Targa was delivered new to the German market in 1990 and is fitted with the desirable 5-speed manual gearbox. With production limited to approximately 3,500 units, the rear-wheel-drive 964 Targa Carrera 2 remains one of the rarer and more desirable variants of the 964 range.
Finished in classic Black over a rare Porsche Script cloth interior, it boasts a particularly attractive and uncommon specification.
While little is known about its early life, the car arrived in France in 2002 with approximately 130,000 km on the odometer. Thanks to the French Histovec records and a substantial history file of invoices, nearly 25 years of ownership and mileage history can be traced. Most recently, the car received a service by RSC Automobile, including fluids, filters, disc brakes and further general maintenance.
The accompanying invoices also document a comprehensive engine rebuild carried out in 2023, including timing chains, Dilavar head studs, bearings, clutch, and related components. In 2024, the twin-ignition system was overhauled, while a further service in 2025 included replacement front control arms.
Most recently, the car underwent a major service and mechanical overhaul in our atelier, with no expense spared, ensuring excellent reliability and peace of mind for its next custodian. Works included extensive mechanical servicing, fluids, filters, brakes and wheel alignement.
The paintwork was refreshed in the past and today presents well, retaining a deep gloss throughout. The car sits on its original Cup wheels, recently refurbished to a high standard and fitted with recent Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. Should the buyer prefer, the car can be delivered with the factory-correct Classic D90 wheels installed.
The standard rear muffler has been replaced by the sporty gooseneck exhaust pipe, giving the air-cooled flat six a richer, more engaging and unmistakably Porsche soundtrack.
The interior shows only lighter signs of wear, reflecting both the inherent quality of the 964 and the attention it has received over the years. The seats, door panels, dashboard, switches, and trim all present well, with only minimal wear visible.
Now showing over 205,000 km, this 964 remains a remarkably well-presented and highly usable example. Equally suited to refined occasions, spirited drives, or long summer touring, it offers a compelling blend of classic air-cooled character, usability, and performance.
