Immediately after launching the first 996 GT3 in 1999, Porsche Motorsport began developing an extreme circuit version of this for participation in Le Mans.

This became the 996 GT3 R.
This R with chassis number WP0ZZZ99ZYS692090, built in 2000 (66 pieces produced in that year)

This specific car first ran 2 Belcar events when new. In June 2000, the car took part in the 24h Le Mans, driven by P. Verellen, R. Penders and K. Dujardyn. Started 46th on the Grid and finishing a strong 24th overall

Between 2001 and 2002, the R was driven by RTM Belcar before being held by S & P Racing Belcar (FG Motorsport). In 2008 and 2009, R was rented to Mc Donalds Racing who bought the car in 2010.

While initially built with a 3.6L flat-six engine, it was later upgraded by its previous owners with a higher-performance 3.9L 2004 RSR engine generating 440 BHP alongside a 6-speed sequential gearbox

In 2016, the car body was fully restored to its original Le Mans configuration. Of this GT3 R, an extensive history and race palmares has been tracked. Even the official order voucher at Porsche Motorsport (11/1999) is available.
