Sadly for enthusiasts, Porsche no longer makes an analog sport car like GT2 in 997 generation, the fact is they are offering a little bit faster 911s (however top speed after 18 years since debut still reaches impressing 329 km/h mark), however somehow, they lost their famous driver engagement part, where everything is about undisturbed handling and direct feedback to the driver, which truly makes each and every drive unforgettable. 997 generation is also a much smaller and lighter 911 than current 992 generation, which helps to make the car more agile and nimble, especially on curvy side-country roads, where it belongs, not to mentioned analog feed back from hydraulic powered steering.

Not many knows that famous factory Porsche Launch Control was first introduced with 997 GT2 and up to date it is the only manual Porsche with that system

I am the fourth owner in succession, in my possession since 2015. Originally it was delivered to the Netherlands and then sold to Germany and subsequently to Sweden, where it was purchased by me. The GT2 is accident-free and has its original factory paint layer. It was ordered in quite rare specification, where on top of Clubsport rear roll-cage, front part extension was added to full roll-cage as factory option. Rumor has it that only less than 30% out of 1155 ever produced were opted as Clubsport version and only handful of them as full roll-cage extension, which after years makes that particular GT2 very special. Along with M003 ClubSport package came split-folding carbon bucket seats finished in Perlon (fire retard material), also know as GT2 seats since.

Given 997 GT2 Clubsport besides many factory options – complete list enclosed below (including Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes and 40% Limited Slip Differential and contrast full red tail lights) has additional set of 19” wheels with RDK sensors – lightweight forged Mono-block from Agency Power (GT2RS inspired – 8,5Jx19, 12Jx19) fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires (second OEM set has fitted Michelin Pilot Sport Cup). On top professional 3-way double bass sound system from JEHNERT, fully integrated with the car, was installed by previous owner in Germany. In order to better control PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), DSC Sport Module by TPC Racing module was installed (as plug’n’play replacement for original PASM module), which transforms the way the GT2 is handling, much fastest reaction times give more agile control with the changing road condition to fully utilise GT2 potential (system is fully integrated and features Normal and Sport modes on the dashboard, the original module is also provided as spare).

The car is accident free and has service book for inspections (although the car is currently not in use the oil will be changed prior to delivery to the next owner along with new brake fluid). The air-condition system was serviced recently with cleaning all the pipes and the dryer and oil in the compressor were exchanged along with the compete refilled R134a agent gas. The air-condition system in 997 GT2 is also used for cooling down the fuel before being injected, that is why the flawless work of the system is crucial. The factory exhaust system was replaced with handcrafted Europipe Stage 2 exhaust design specially for the 997 GT2 model (worth over EUR 5K) for better performance and sounding. It comes with stock-looking ø76 mm / ø3 inch stainless steel tailpipes, 100 cell sport cats, ensure no cell issues and very low maximum back pressure at only 0.12 bar (very healthy for the engine) along with much denser (fin density is insane) and as a result more efficient 997 GT2RS intercoolers, to provide an engine with much more volume of cooler air in given time frame, resulting in higher power output.

Porsche 911 997 GT2 equipped from factory with full roll-cage along with ClubSport (IXSM + I003), rare and unique combination.

Now it seems to be a perfect moment to get the proper almost analog Porsche enthusiast’s 911. Nowadays as it seems to be collectable car it is worth mentioning that Porsche only produced 1155 cars (from late of 2007 to early of 2009) and only about 30% of them were equipped with Clubsport (I003) option and much less chosen addition called racing safety cage (IXSM (the exact number is even unknown to the Porsche AG itself), which makes that particular 997 GT2 even more special and collectible.

Unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 997-generation Porsche 911 GT2 was the most extreme roadgoing 911 yet. Rear-wheel drive, a six-speed manual, and extensive weight-saving made it a purist’s machine. Its 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six produced 530 PS and 680 Nm of torque, with 100km/h arriving from a standstill in 3.7 seconds and a 329-km/h top speed. Period reviewers praised not only its explosive acceleration but also its composure, with razor-sharp steering, unshakable chassis, and devastatingly effective PCCB brakes.

The 997 GT2 was the third production Porsche road going car to exceed 200 mph top speed (205 mph = 329 km/h according to GPS, so expect over 345 km/h on the speedometer). German Porsche test driver Walter Röhrl lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife on a public day in 7 minutes, 32 seconds in the 997 GT2. In 2008 GT2 was fastest street legal Porsche ever built to date and despite it was 10 years after Ferry Porsche past away it is the last Porsche to carry F.Porsche’s principles – the car must provide maximum, uninterrupted feedback and pleasure to the driver and the engine has to last 300.000 km without repair! 997 GT2 is also the first Porsche that has implemented Launch Control procedure and the only one in history to have it in conjunction with the manual transmission. This car is one of the last Porsche built with a so – called “Mezger” type engine and the last offered GT2 iteration up to date still in 2026
