Chassis No. WP0ZZZ99Z7S790763
Introduced in late 2006 as a homologation special for Porsche’s GT3 RSR racing effort, the 997.1 GT3 RS sharpened the formula established by its 996-generation predecessor. The wider Carrera 4S bodyshell added 44 mm across the rear axle, while a single-mass flywheel, plastic rear window, and carbon-fiber rear wing trimmed weight and quickened response. The 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six, shared with the standard GT3, produced 415 PS, revved to 8,400 rpm, and propelled the car from 0–97 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Writing for evo magazine in December 2006, Jethro Bovingdon described the resulting car as the “911 turned up to 12.”
Chassis 790763 is a French-market example, completed at Zuffenhausen on 1 December 2006 and delivered on the 28th of that month through Centre Porsche Montpellier (Alliance Auto) at Mauguio. Finished in classic Black over a black leatherette GT3 interior, it was ordered with a restrained but focused option list, comprising Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) and the Clubsport Safety Cage in Black, the latter complementing the standard Clubsport content of six-point harnesses, and fire extinguisher preparation already specified for the 997 GT3 RS. Setting off the black bodywork are the quintessential Pure Orange accents, applied to the alloy wheels, mirror caps, rear wing uprights, and ‘GT3 RS’ side script.
The original service booklet documents low mileage and consistent maintenance entries across fourteen years, all conducted in France. Early servicing passed through Centre Porsche Bordeaux in 2010 at 10,018 km and Centre Porsche A La Bourgade in 2012 at 13,921 km, the latter a full major service with spark plugs and accessory-belt inspection. Centre Porsche La Rochelle then looked after the car for five consecutive visits between 2013 and 2017, including a second major service at 37,143 km in March 2016. Subsequent maintenance was carried out by Centre Porsche Rennes in 2019 at 44,250 km, followed by a third major service at Centre Porsche Lorient in January 2022 at 46,343 km, and additional service by Mougins Auto Sport in February 2024 at 47,535 km. Most recently, in May 2026, the Porsche returned to Mougins Auto Sport for a fresh service and PIWIS report in preparation for the sale.
Now offered with 48,833 km at the time of cataloging, this French-delivery 997.1 GT3 RS presents as a well-documented and sparingly used example of Porsche’s Mezger-engined, manual-transmission RS. Its 3.6-liter flat-six and six-speed gearbox remain the defining attributes of the Weissach formula before the arrival of PDK and direct injection, making it a compelling candidate for the Porsche collector seeking a usable, analog-era GT3 RS.
