When Porsche introduced the 997 Turbo in 2006, the brand combined the timeless lines of the 997 with 480 pk, all-wheel drive, and the legendary 3.6-liter Mezger engine. Today, one model in particular is attracting increasing attention from enthusiasts and collectors: the first-generation 997 Turbo with a manual transmission.
This 997 Turbo was delivered new by Porsche Monaco on December 20, 2006. The original service booklet remained with the car and shows a long history of maintenance performed at official Porsche Centers and by specialists. There is also a substantial file containing maintenance invoices.
The car came equipped from the factory with a six-speed manual transmission and, in addition, with a short-shift mechanism (XCZ). Combined with the Sport Chrono Package Plus (640), this delivers exactly the kind of direct, mechanical driving experience that makes the early 997 Turbo so sought-after today. In addition, it was ordered not only with the Carbon Package (803), but also with additional, separate carbon options. For example, it features carbon fiber door sills (X69), and the rear section of the center console is also finished in carbon fiber (XMJ). Together with the Alcantara headliner, the premium leather package, the adaptive sport seats, and the Porsche emblems on the headrests, this gives the interior a much more exclusive and sporty look than that of a typical 997 Turbo.

For us, the appeal of a manual 997 Turbo lies precisely in its mechanical character. But that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on today’s comforts. This car was recently equipped with a new, genuine Porsche PCCM, which brought the multimedia system fully up to date. For example, the Turbo now features Apple CarPlay, DAB radio, and a modern touchscreen, among other things, without compromising the look of the original dashboard.
This Turbo has now covered about 155,000 km and was used for the purpose it was built for. The available invoices show work performed at Porsche and specialized Porsche repair shops over the years, including maintenance in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019, 2022, and 2024, among other years. The engine is a matching pair. The overrun report shows inflammation only in stages 1, 2, and 3, and no inflammation at all in stages 4, 5, and 6.
The French HistoVec report also corroborates the car’s history. It lists five registered owners.
Nearly twenty years later, it’s precisely the things that were once taken for granted that make this 997 Turbo so special: a Mezger engine, three pedals, a real gearshift, and 480 pk.
With its matching engine, short shifter, Sport Chrono Plus, and unique carbon fiber finish, this is the kind of Turbo we love most today. Modern enough to be impressively fast. Analog enough to make every kilometer special.
