That’s right, it wasn’t until 1984 that the 911 model line would officially be called the “Carrera”. Prior to this, any Carrera badging simply denoted a trim level or package, i.e. the optional “Carrera Pack” on the 1974 911. The Carrera would run from 1984 to 1989—the first half fitted with the tried-and-true 915 gearbox and the second half (’87 – ’89) featured the legendary, 959 developed, G-50 transmission.

Photographed here, our 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Silver Anniversary edition is finished in its original color combination of Silver Metallic over a Silk leather interior and has traveled only 36k miles since new.
