Instantly recognisable with its distinctive “ducktail” spoiler, this Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was completed in April 1973 and delivered new to Munich via the MAHAG dealer. Originally finished in Light Yellow, the car was equipped from the factory with electric windows, an electric sunroof, and a heated rear window. Importantly, the 911 benefitted from the “M472” option code, denoting the desirable Touring specification.

While it is not known how long the car remained in Germany, by the mid-1990s it had moved to France and was registered in Normandy as of October 1995. It was there that the car was restored with new Light Yellow paintwork and the interior was retrimmed at the same time.

A report carried out by ASCA S.r.l. of Milan in early 2025 shows that the engine currently fitted to the car wears a Type 7R 2.7-litre engine casing fabricated in 1979 as a factory replacement. Furthermore, the Type 915 gearbox casing bears production dates of both 1975 and 1976. Chassis number 1046 would be an ideal candidate for historic racing or rallying, or for the keen driver looking to enjoy one of Porsche’s most iconic models on the open road.
