The car was built upon a seam-welded body-shell and further weight saving measures included fitment of an aluminium bonnet lid, thinner rear and side window-glass, a spartan interior with leather-covered light-weight bucket-seats and a three-spoke leather covered (non-airbag) steering wheel, plus simplified door panels with manual window-winders, door pulls and door release straps and with both rear seats and trim deleted, altogether producing a 100 kg weight saving from the standard Carrera. Despite its 7 kgs weight penalty, the 993 RS was fitted with a power steering system, which was optimized for steering feel through its 8-inch front and 10-inch rear “ RS Cup Design” rims. Externally, the car featured a small, fixed rear wing and two additional front spoilers.
A Clubsport option was also available, which was even more spartan than that of the base RS. As delivered, the interior was devoid of any trim or insulating material and was painted in body colour, fitted with a welded-in roll cage. A larger adjustable rear wing was mounted onto the rear.
A total of just 1,014 cars were produced, of which only 49 were delivered to the UK in right hand drive specification.

This immaculate, low mileage, UK RHD example was supplied new via H.R.Owen in August 1995 finished in Midnight Blue Metallic with Black Bucket Seats and equipped with factory-fitted options: Air Conditioning, Heavy Duty Battery, Top Tinted Front Windscreen, Cross Brace for Front Shock Absorbers and Reduced Radio Preparation. The car remains unmodified in original specification yet has been recently fitted with a Porsche Classic Radio Navigation System.
