As sportscar racing enjoyed a 1990s renaissance thanks to the BPR Global GT Series that housed McLaren F1 GTRs and Ferrari F40s, Porsche needed a homologation special edition of its 993-type 911 to excel on track. The result was the Carrera RS 3.8, which gained an atmospheric, 3.8-litre flat-six making 300 horsepower via a six-speed manual gearbox.

One of a reported 970 cars configured in left-hand drive, this example was delivered via the official Porsche Centre in Moers, Germany in April 1996 for its Düsseldorf-based first owner. Specified in Polar Silver Metallic over a black leather interior featuring grey seat inserts plus blue door pulls and seatbelts, this 911 visited its original dealer for services later in 1996 and in 1997 before being tended to by Penders Porsche of Liège.

Following spells on the France-Switzerland border and in Paris, the Carrera RS 3.8 returned to Belgium when it was acquired by the Curated Collection. Treated to a service by Kronos Porsche of Mont-Saint-Guibert in July 2022, this car displayed 73,138 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. Please note, it is believed that early in the car’s life the dials were replaced with TechArt items.

Among the most collectable and engaging of naturally aspirated, air-cooled Porsche 911s conceived, this Carrera RS 3.8 is sure to appeal to enthusiasts of Stuttgart’s greatest hits.
