Key features:
6-speed manual transmission, Sport Chrono Package Plus,
full black leather interior, automatic seat adjustment with memory, heated seats, climate control, power sunroof, Bose sound system, navigation, dimmable interior and exterior mirrors, power-adjustable/heated exterior mirrors, 19-inch alloy wheels.
What makes this 997 4S truly desirable is:
- A recent (at 108,982 km) endoscopic inspection performed by a Porsche specialist to
for bore scoring in all 6 cylinders; all cylinder walls
show absolutely no signs of bore scoring. This inspection must be specifically requested and is not performed during a standard major or minor service. So no matter how good the maintenance history may be, the engine could still have developing or advanced bore scoring.
As a precaution, I also had a GT3 water pump installed to ensure optimal cooling for the right-hand cylinder bank, where bore scoring is most likely to occur.
An engine with bore scoring requires a complete engine block overhaul.
Also, for as long as I’ve owned it (more than 10 years), I’ve had the drained engine oil and oil filter regularly inspected by a Porsche specialist for signs of wear
(iron filings) from the IMS bearing (as was also done at 108,982 km); over the years, nothing unusual has been found in the filter or oil.
Also at 108,982 km, all driveshaft and transfer case oil was changed, and the coolant was also replaced.
At 107,642 km, all 6 ignition coils and spark plugs were replaced.
Recently, two new brake rotors and brake pads were installed on the front wheels.
All of the above (actually necessary)
inspections are fully described in the invoice.
-All maintenance, service intervals, and inspections were performed at the Porsche dealer and, with the exception of one service, at the same reputable Porsche specialist for as long as I have owned the car. This Porsche specialist overhauls Porsche engines himself and also builds them for racing, so he knows exactly how to keep a Porsche engine in top condition to prevent costly repairs.
-A complete and consistent maintenance history from new
and stamped by the Porsche dealer/specialist. (See also the photos.)
-First-generation original paint; despite stone chips (which are normal), the front of the car has never been repainted, and I have deliberately never done so in order to keep the car completely original.
-Originally delivered in the Netherlands.
-Manual transmission—a must for the 997 to fully enjoy the ultimate driving experience; moreover, a manual transmission is also rarer, which adds to the car’s value.
-Equipped with the Sport Chrono Plus package (which can be activated or deactivated)
for the true driving and sound experience (the engine accelerates faster, the suspension becomes stiffer, and the exhaust note becomes
louder.
-The car has a relatively low mileage.
-I’ve always kept the car indoors, and I’ve mainly driven it only in good weather
.
– Tastes vary, but this car truly has the best color combination: Basalt Black Metallic exterior / black leather interior and silver wheels; this color combination remains timelessly beautiful.
The engine hasn’t been repainted, so there are no leaks that need to be covered up.
Yes, there are cheaper Porsche 997 4S models for sale, but not in this condition or configuration. The price is slightly negotiable, but it will have to be very close to the asking price.
Anyone who doesn’t understand the technical aspects of buying this type of car and is guided solely—or too heavily—by a low asking price will end up buying a pig in a poke.
