I’ve been a huge Porsche fan – for last 30 years. Here’s a brief article written a few years ago when living in Canada.

I purchased the car in December 2024 directly from the individual who conceived and built it. His vision was to create an uncompromising, lightweight, naturally aspirated 911 using many of the best components available, with no shortcuts taken along the way.
The project began in 2012 and was completed at the end of 2024, spanning almost twelve years. Unfortunately, the builder never had the opportunity to enjoy the finished car. Since completion it has covered only a few hundred miles, so it genuinely feels like a freshly completed build rather than a car that has seen years of use.
The history file documents the investment made throughout the build, including substantial expenditure with Tuthill Porsche and many other recognised Porsche specialists.
Engine
The original matching-type 3.0-litre engine has been professionally enlarged to 3.5 litres and assembled by the highly respected Porsche and Ford engine builderIain Ross.
The specification includes:
- 3.5-litre capacity
- 10.6:1 compression ratio
- Twin-plug ignition
- Extensive Tuthill-supplied and machined components
- Tuthill invoices exceeding £32,000 (2014)
- Patrick Motorsports supplied PMO 50 carburettors (£4,500)
- RSR oil tank and associated components (£2,600)
- RSR race headers and RSR silencers (£4,500)
The engine has been dyno tested at approximately 320bhp at the wheels, providing exceptional performance in such a lightweight chassis, while retaining the unmistakable character and throttle response that only a high-compression naturally aspirated air-cooled flat six can deliver.
Transmission
The original 915 gearbox has been completely rebuilt by Tuthill Porsche and fitted with a limited-slip differential at a cost of over £8,000 in 2014.
The car is also fitted with an M-Saver fuel cell.
Chassis, Suspension & Brakes
The suspension has been developed to match the engine specification and provides exceptional balance and precision.
Highlights include:
- Tuthill-supplied EXE-TC Classic Porsche Circuit dampers with matching springs (£6,300)
- RSR hollow front and rear anti-roll bars (£4000)
- Adjustable rear spring plates
- Refurbished front wishbones by Tuthill
- New lower ball joints
- AP Racing six-pot front and four-pot rear brake calipers
- New brake discs throughout
The result is a car that inspires confidence, changes direction beautifully and has braking performance to match its engine.
Body & Interior
Weight reduction formed a key part of the build.
The car features:
- Fully welded roll cage
- Lightweight resin front wings and front/rear bumpers
- Lightweight resin bonnet
- Lightweight rear engine lid with rear wing
- Polycarbonate side windows, rear quarters and rear screen
- New ST-style front seats
- New competition harnesses
The finished weight is approximately 980kg, giving the car an exceptional power-to-weight ratio.
Driving
This is an immensely capable analogue Porsche that feels alive from the moment you climb in. The engine is sharp, responsive and eager to rev, the rebuilt 915 gearbox works exactly as it should, and the chassis has a level of composure that reflects the quality of the components used throughout.
It is equally suited to fast road use, track days or historic competition (subject to any FIA eligibility requirements).
Documentation
The car comes with an extensive history file documenting the build, including invoices for major components and specialist work carried out over more than a decade.
Reason for Sale
The only reason for sale is a change in focus. My interests have moved towards early Lotus cars, and I have decided to concentrate on my Lotus Elite Super 95 project rather than Porsche ownership.
Finding another impact-bumper 911 built to this specification, with this level of documented investment and such limited mileage since completion, would be extremely difficult.
