History:

This car was planned and built as a tribute to the Herbert Linge / 1965 Monte Carlo Rally entry. Huschke von Hanstein—who held the dual roles of Head of Motorsport and Marketing Director at the time—planned a lavish launch event for the Porsche 901/911 (successor to the 356) in front of the Prince’s Palace in Monaco. Herbert Linge and co-driver Peter Falk were tasked with driving the vehicle to the finish line without damage. Herbert Linge himself drove this “Tribute” car (number 147) on two occasions—including in his hometown and the location of the Porsche Development Center in Weissach, Germany—at a time when he was already 90 years old (!). Parts of this drive have been documented in photos and videos. Herbert Linge (1929–2024) left his signature on the vehicle’s roof. Magnus Walker also drove the car several times during his visits to Northern Germany (relevant photos have been widely published in the press and on social media). Today, the vehicle is considered an icon of the burgeoning “Porsche Outlaw” scene, having captivated audiences at events such as Luftgekühlt, Wheels & Waves, and Petro-Surf across Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, and France.

Note for prospective buyers:

From the early planning stages, the concept was to find or create a vehicle whose patina would unmistakably reveal its history as a rally car. Consequently, all cosmetic imperfections—those irrelevant to driving safety—were deliberately preserved. As the car originated in California, corrosion damage was minimal; where necessary, it was professionally repaired to meet German TÜV standards. Since its build, the car has been driven a maximum of 10,000 km and remains registered and roadworthy to this day. Delivery abroad or to the USA is possible (an international registration document exists). The license plate HH-PO 1 is included in the sale. The owner would like to see the car go to a true enthusiast. Please consider whether you are seriously interested in such a vehicle before making contact. We are happy to answer your questions; please provide your full name and an email address so we can get back to you.
