BACKGROUND
The 997.1 Turbo is the last 911 Turbo powered by the motorsport-bred Mezger engine: the dry-sump M97/70 3.6-litre flat-six, fed by twin variable-geometry (VTG) turbochargers and good for 480 hp and 680 Nm through all four wheels. The VTG turbos deliver absolutely constant torque across the rev range, making what is still, by any modern standard, a true rocket. In Cabriolet form it adds an open view to the sky (or universe?).
And don’t underestimate the 5-speed Tiptronic S gearbox (type A97/50): a 997 Turbo Tiptronic S sprints to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, against 3.9 for its manual equivalent, with the same 310 km/h top speed. From a standstill the Tiptronic car is actually faster than the manual to any speed (0-100, 0-140, 0-160, 0-200), and its 80-180 km/h time matches that of a Ferrari F50, not exactly a slow car. We bet you didn’t expect that!
ABOUT THIS CAR
Two things make this car truly special: its A1 quality, with just 1 owner & in first paint, and the extremely rarely seen carbon bucket seats (388/389).
Delivered new in Germany (C00) on 15 July 2008, this Turbo Cabriolet was ordered with factory collection: its first and only owner picked the car up at Zuffenhausen himself, and it remained in the same hands from 2008 until 2026. One owner, first paint, well-specced: talk about a perfect pedigree!
The spec is as dramatic as it is classy: Basalt Black Metallic (LC9Z) over black full leather (AT) with a black roof, contrasted by the super sexy lightweight bucket seats with carbon fibre backrests (388/389) from the contemporary GT2. Around them sit extended leather on the dashboard and door panels (981), Porsche Exclusive leather door panels (XTV), a leather airbag module (991), leather rear seats (936), a thicker Alcantara-rimmed steering wheel (CLA) and illuminated stainless steel door entry guards (CXB).
The rest of the spec is truly amazing: Sport Chrono Package (640) with silver instrument and stopwatch dials (023/026), and, outside, the subtle Porsche Exclusive red tail lights (XXF). Grand touring is covered too, with the PCM 2 (665) with DVD navigation (610/672), the BOSE sound package (680), cruise control (454), ParkAssist rear (635), automatic climate control (573) and a wind deflector (551): a wonderful car to own, and to cruise all summer long with style!
This car was always serviced at Porsche and brand specialists, with a fully stamped service book and a fully traceable mileage from new. It has been fully serviced ahead of sale, along with brand new N-rated Michelin Pilot Sport tires, so it is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
When is the next time you will find a one-owner, Mezger Turbo Cabriolet with GT2 carbon buckets and 100% first paint? Don’t miss your chance!
