Porsche 911 Backdate

Porsche 911 Backdate

Coupé, 1974

Highlights

  • "Sport Chic"
  • RS spec!
  • Refined condition

Today at Iconic Motors, we are pleased to present our latest Backdate project, fresh from our workshops.

We’ve opted for a look that’s simple in appearance but designed for a driving experience that’s both sporty and chic!

It’s the perfect car for a romantic weekend getaway, but also for enjoying winding roads or the racetrack.

The surprise lies under the hood: it features an all-magnesium engine and transmission, completely rebuilt to address the known weak points of the 2.7. We then optimized it in the style of the famous 2.7 RS and fitted it with PMO carburetors.

A sleek silhouette and a captivating sound!

The vehicle in detail

This latest project had just one guiding principle: “Sport Chic”

At Iconic Motors, we carefully selected a solid, sound foundation for this project that combines sportiness and elegance.

After extensive research, we opted for this 2.7S, imported from the U.S. a few years ago. It’s a California model and “rust-free.”

We fitted it with 3.2 fenders to sculpt its silhouette and mounted it with 9- and 8-inch Fuchs wheels for maximum handling, paired with the famous Toyo R888 tires.

Next, we optimized the suspension system, offsetting the front steering knuckles for an optimal low ride height without compromising the travel of the Bilstein Club Sport shocks; the rear suspension arms, meanwhile, are adjustable with a single turn of a wrench!

Once again, we relied on Powerflex for the suspension mounts; the 930 Turbo-style suspension ball joints are complemented by a Bumpsteer kit from Elephant Racing.

For braking, we selected Sebro drilled and vented brake rotors paired with PAGID brake pads and aviation-grade brake hoses.

The engine is completely new; Timesert inserts have been installed on all known critical studs of the 2.7-liter engine, made of magnesium. A Mahle RS cylinder and piston kit, along with “E”-spec camshafts, ensures a smooth ride while complementing the PMO carburetors. The fuel delivery system has also been designed for carburetors, featuring a low-pressure fuel pump and a PMO regulator.

For the sound, we opted for a Dansk stainless steel exhaust manifold and muffler set, to which we added “Cookie Cutter”-style tailpipes as a tribute to the famous Porsche 904 and other race cars from this iconic brand.

We topped it all off with an “Amber” fiberglass engine cover to complement this sporty yet classic engine.

As for the transmission, it was inspected and overhauled; the linkage was refurbished and upgraded with a Rennline universal joint and a Rennshift shifter, providing optimal precision and comfort when shifting gears.

The interior was designed to be luxurious yet sophisticated. To achieve this, we installed a new, original-style black carpet kit, along with front and rear seats in faux leather and the famous Pepita fabric.

The Iconic Motors door panels and handles are made of aluminum and perforated faux leather, lightening the overall style and reinforcing the desired identity.

The steering wheel is an RS-style design, providing comfort and precision behind the wheel. The dashboard has also been subtly restyled in a retro style and features aluminum trim and perforated leather.

The front trunk has been fitted with a carpet kit from our partner Carbone, as well as an anodized aluminum reinforcement bar.

For the bodywork, we chose precisely fitted fiberglass components for the front and rear bumpers as well as the hood. This allowed us to achieve a vehicle weighing less than 1,000 kg! The fenders, meanwhile, are made of Porsche sheet metal.

This combination gives the vehicle an elegant silhouette and a bold character!

This vehicle comes with a 1-year or 20,000 km warranty.
